The formula for the American luxury car was always very simple: huge size, many features, and soft-sprung ride. This rule applies to the new Lincoln Navigator, which is one of the best luxury vehicles sold today.
The Lincoln brand did not create a real leader since the original Navigator debuted as a 1998 model. The second generation of the famous Expedition did not achieve the same goal. Because a lot of sales going to General Motor’s Cadillac Escalade.
The new Lincoln Navigator was a big surprise because it drew massive profits for Ford and luring buyers away from other brands.
This Lincoln Navigator on twisty roads is best described as ponderous. But get it on the highway, or around town on suburban streets, will feel very comfortable. The power of this vehicle comes from a 3.5-liter twin-turbocharged V6, putting out 450 horsepower and 510 pound-feet of torque.
That’s enough power to get this big boy up and moving with ease, or executing quick passes.
The Conserve drive mode tones things down for the sake of better fuel economy. In relation to other driving aids, blind-spot monitoring is standard. Adaptive cruise control and lane-keeping assist are also available.
The interior of the new Lincoln Navigator has been brought to perfection. The optional Perfect Position front seats are borrowed from the Lincoln Continental sedan. They are so comfortable that they might just put all other luxury seats to shame. Both front seats have 30-way adjustability and offer massage, heating, and cooling.
Second-row passengers get their own audio and climate controls. The third row is very luxurious, with tons of legroom and the ability to recline.
Cargo space is more than ample. Behind the third row there are 19 cubic feet of space, but fold them flat and you’ll find 57 cubic feet. Fold both rows and you will get over 103 cubic feet of usable cargo space. But if you need more space the long-wheelbase Navigator has 120 cubic feet of cargo space.
Lincoln’s version of Ford’s Sync 3 infotainment software runs a 10-inch touchscreen. This screen with lots of shortcut buttons makes Sync 3 super easy to use. Android Auto and Apple CarPlay are both standards, and Sync 3 is compatible with Amazon Alexa.
A Wi-Fi hotspot is also standard and can support 10 devices. Wireless charging is available, in addition to 6-USB ports scattered throughout the cabin.
Because the Lincoln Navigator is so wide, it’s harder to get any of the buttons on the right side of the infotainment screen. Do not exist redundant controls on the center console or steering wheel. If you’re a short-statured person, make sure you can reach everything from the driver’s seat.
The price of the new Lincoln Navigator is $ 97,690. This is the price that is paid for full-size luxury SUVs these days, though. And with its good looks, strong powerplant, and over-the-top luxury features the Navigator is one of the best buys in this class.
